Mrs. B's Bavarian Apple Torte

Serves: 6-8 Prep time: 25 min Cook Time Time: 35 min Total Time: 60 min

Ingredients

Base:

1/2 cup salted butter

1/3 cup white sugar

1/4 tsp vanilla

1 cup flour

Bavarian Mixture:

8 oz cream cheese softened

1/4 cup sugar

1 egg

1 tsp vanilla

Apple Mixture:

4 cups of your favourite tart apples peeled & sliced

1/3 cup white sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

Directions

Preheat oven to 450. In a stand mixer, combine all the base ingredients and mix thoroughly until you have a dough ball. Press the dough into a pie plate (Keep a small piece aside if you want to make a decorative apple for the top). Next using a stand or hand mixer combine the ingredients of the Bavarian mixture until smooth. Pour over the pastry on the pie plate. Next, toss your peeled and sliced apples in cinnamon and sugar and place over the Bavarian mixture:   Bake @ 450 for 10 minutes, then at @400 for 20 -25 minutes

Notes:

The apples will have a slight crunch. If you prefer a softer apple stew them for about 5 minutes on med-high in a pot on the stove before placing them over the Bavarian filling.
