Steak House Shepherds Pie

Serves: 4-6 Prep time: 25 min Cook Time Time: 45 min Total Time: 70 min

Ingredients

8-10 large red potatoes washed and chopped into cubes (skin on)

1 lb sirloin ground beef

4 tbsp Worcestershire

2 tbsp steak spice

4 tbsp bisto gravy mix

2 packets beef oxo

1/2 cup water

1 med white onion chopped

8 large mushrooms chopped

1 bunch green onion chopped

1 cup sour cream

2 tbsp butter

1 cup cheddar cheese grated

Directions

Preheat oven to 375. In a pot, boil the potatoes until soft. While the potatoes boil in a frying pan, cook the beef on med-high for about 5 minutes. Add the white onion, mushrooms, 1 tbsp steak spice and Worcester sauce. Once the meat is fully cooked and the onion and mushrooms have softened, mix the bisto and oxo with the water, pour into the ground beef mixture, and turn down to low. Let simmer for about 5 minutes. The ground beef mixture should have a thick-ish gravy. If it seems too thick, add a tbsp of water at a time to get to your desired consistency. Once your potatoes are cooked, drain the water and add them to your stand mixer bowl with the butter and sour cream. Whip on med-high speed until smooth. Next, slowly add the green onion, cheese, and 1 tbsp of steak spice mix until combined. Place the beef mixture in an 8x8 baking dish, then spread the potato on top using a fork. Bake for 40 mins or until you see the gravy bubble on the side. Then broil for 3-5 minutes to crisp the top. Serve with peas or your favourite veg! Enjoy!

Notes:

if you don’t have a stand mixer or hand mixer to whip the potatoes, you can mash them well and add in the ingredients and stir together.

Fried chopped bacon is also a delicious addition to the potato mixture!
