Beppe's Plum Platz

Serves: 9-12 Prep time: 15 mins, Cook time: 35-45 mins Total Time: 1hr

Ingredients

The Base

 1 ½ cups flour

 1 tbsp baking powder

 1 tbsp sugar

 ½ cup butter

¾ cup milk or half & half cream

The Topping

 ¾ cup sugar

 ⅓ cup flour

 3 tbsp butter

The Filling

 4 cups prune plums

Directions

Preheat oven at 350 F and grease an 8 inch square or small rectangle baking pan.

In a medium size bowl add 1 1/2 cups flour, 1 tablespoon sugar, & the baking powder. Then with a pastry cutter cut the 1/2 cup of butter into the dry mixture until it's a crumbly texture. Add the milk or cream; stir with a fork or spatula to make a wet biscuit-type dough.

Spread into the bottom of greased pan to make the base. Layer the halved plums on top, and set aside.

In a another smaller bowl add the second measurements of flour and sugar to make the crumble topping. Cut 2 tablespoons of butter into the mixture until it's evenly distributed, and sprinkle over the fruit.

Put it into the preheated oven for 35-45 minutes. The plums should be bubbling, and the top a light golden colour when it's ready.

If serving warm, wait 15 minutes for the platz to cool off a bit and have it with ice cream, whip cream, or simply on its own. Store the leftovers in the fridge as it makes a great next day treat!
