Open Face Philly Cheesesteak

Serves: 4-6 Prep time: 40 min Cook Time Time: 15 min Total Time: 55 min

Ingredients

1 lb sirloin steak thinly sliced

1 large yellow onion halved and thinly sliced

1 large green pepper halved and thinly sliced

2 cups mushrooms thinly sliced

1 long artisan baguette cut in half length-wise

2 cups shredded provolone cheese

2 tbsp butter

1 tbsp steak spice

Steak Marinade

1 tbsp olive oil

2 tbsp Worchester sauce

1 tbsp steak spice

Garlic Butter

1/2 cup salted butter

1 heaping tbsp Herb’s Crushed Garlic

1tsp dried parsley

Directions

Set your oven to high broil. In a bowl, combine your steak marinade ingredients and your sliced sirloin steak and set aside for 20-30 mins (or overnight refrigerated). Next, in a sauté pan on medium heat, add 2 tbsp butter, peppers, onions, mushrooms, and steak spice. Sauté until there is no liquid and the onions almost become caramelized. This will be approx. Take 30 mins. Next, prepare your garlic butter, spread it over your baguette, and broil it on high for 2-3 mins (This is to set your garlic butter into your bread). Remove your baguette from the oven and set the temperature to 375. Next, remove the sautéed veggies from the pan, place them into a bowl, and set them aside. Add your steak and cook on med-high for 8- 10 mins. If you experience a lot of liquid while cooking your steak, drain the liquid and then add another tbsp of Worchester sauce until your steak is at your desired doneness. Next, spread your veggie mixture over the baguette, add the steak, and top it with the provolone cheese. Bake for 6 mins and then broil on high for 2-3 mins. Slice & serve with garden salad, or slice into two bite-sized pieces and serve as an appetizer at your next gathering. Enjoy!

Notes: If you have grill pans and can use a BBQ to sauté your steak, add veggies, and it adds a nice smokey BBQ flavour. Cooking the steak on the BBQ also helps with the moisture vs cooking in a pan.

Save time with your beef by grabbing some already-cooked roast beef from our deli! Just slice it and add it to your Philly! ( It won’t have the same marinade but will be equally as delicious!)
