French Onion Roast

Ingredients
1 2-3 lb pot roast
The Gravy
1 packet of beef oxo
3 tbsp beef bisto gravy mix
3 cups water
The Onions
2 large yellow onions thinly sliced
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp dried onion flakes
2 tbsp dried thyme
Other
1/4 cup Worcestershire
1 tbsp steak spice
Directions
Preheat oven to 400°F.
In a frying pan over medium-high heat, melt the butter. Add the sliced onions, onion flakes, and thyme. Stir frequently and cook for about 30 minutes until caramelized.
While the onions are cooking, whisk together the water, OXO, and Bisto gravy mix in a baking dish.
Place the roast in the baking dish. Drizzle with Worcestershire sauce and sprinkle with steak spice.
Bake uncovered for 20 minutes.
Remove the roast from the oven and reduce the temperature to 350°F.
Top the roast with the caramelized onions, stirring some into the gravy mixture. Cover with foil and bake for 2 hours.
Slice and serve with your favourite sides, such as roasted potatoes and fresh asparagus.
