Our Coffee Menu

Now that we’re offering new specialty drinks, our heads are swirling with information about espressos, lattes, mochas, and all the in-betweens. We are using a specialty espresso machine, but there is still a huge learning curve to making the taste just right. As we’ve been tweaking the drinks here and there, we’ve tried multiples of each (not that we’re complaining.) We’ve also learned how little we knew about different types of coffee beverages.

With that in mind, we want to share the basics of each drink we are offering. For all you coffee gurus out there, you’re way ahead of this already. But for the average person who’s a little like we were, and doesn’t know all that much between a latte and a cappuccino, you may enjoy reading along!

Espresso

The espresso is the most basic of the specialty drinks, yet the most important. Espresso refers not necessarily to the roast of the coffee, but to the method of coffee extraction. Either medium or dark roast beans are used, ground finely, and packed tightly together. When an espresso shot is ‘pulled,’ hot water passes through the grounds at high pressure, and ends in about 2 ounces of strong concentrated coffee. Most people don’t enjoy drinking espresso straight, but it can be seen as a building block.

Americano

The americano was named by Italians because the coffee served in Italy and other parts of Europe is much stronger than typical American/Canadian fare. This drink consists of an espresso base followed by hot water. Some people also add milk, cream or sugar as they would to their regular coffee!

Latte

Lattes are probably the most common type of specialty drink you can order. They are made with espresso, steamed and frothed milk, and a flavour if desired. These are less jolting to drink in comparison with an espresso as the milk smooths out the intense “shot” flavour of espresso.

Cappuccino

Cappuccinos are similar to lattes. Where a latte has more steamed than frothed milk, a cappuccino has even amounts of each, resulting in a thick layer of foam on top. Feel free to ask us for a spoon when you order so that you don’t miss a speck of that delicious foam!
Fun fact:
A cappuccino is one of the best drinks to photograph because the espresso and milk layers hold up so well.

Mocha

Mochas are for treating yourself! Mochas contain one or two shots of espresso, hot chocolate, and steamed milk. Our mochas are rich and creamy with a balanced flavour of espresso!

Iced Coffee

Iced coffee is made with espresso, milk, and ice. They are simple, but so refreshing on those warm days.  Enjoy one with a pump of flavoured syrup, or just as is!

Hot Chocolate

Our hot chocolate has been revamped, and is now made with steamed milk. It has a layer of foam at the top with a smooth texture and rich chocolate flavour. Your kids are sure to love these!

Now you know our drink menu, and the differences between each one! We also serve Tea Lattes, and have non-dairy options for anyone who prefers almond, coconut, or oat milk over regular 2% dairy milk.

Order our drinks through mobile ordering, or come in!
