Tangelo’s are a hybrid fruit. They are a cross between a tangerine and a grapefruit. Contrary to what some believe, they are NOT genetically modified. They are a product of natural hybridization.

They are great for fresh eating, but I also found a few recipes to try:

While this Pistachio Crusted Scallops with Winter Citrus Salsa doesn’t specifically call for the use of Tagelo’s, they would be an awesome addition here!

This Citrus & Chickpea salad with a lemon & herb dressing is an awesome side to any chicken or fish main! It is refreshing, satisfying and packed full of protein!

This Glazed Vanilla Bean & tangelo quick Bread is a great one for a Sunday breakfast! Easy to get together, and super delicious.

This Jerusalem roasted chicken recipe uses clementines. Sub out the clementines for tangelo’s for a showstopper presentation for guests.

Not only are they delicious, they are also super nutritious. Tangelos are an excellent source of vitamin C and folate, and a good source of potassium and B vitamins. A Tangelo contains 100% of the daily value of vitaminC, 80% of the daily value of folate and 220mg of potassium.
